The Temper Trap

Live at Annandale Hotel. One of the things we love at Moshcam is the experience of coming across amazing new acts that seem to come out of nowhere - they stand apart from the rest with an energy that is impossible to ignore. Melbourne's The Temper Trap definitely fell into that category for us. Emerging in the mid 2000s, it was a stunning performance at St Jerome's Laneway Festival in March 2006 that signalled their 'arrival' as serious players. Their debut EP was a brilliant opening statement from a band that were destined to achieve great things – and their subsequent album releases only confirmed their talent. A keen ear for melody, matched by infectious rhythms and symphonic, arresting guitars, the band further separated from the pack by lead singer Dougie's captivating, unique vocals. Not much has been heard of them as a band in recent times (but they ain’t alone there during these crazy COVID times!). We very much hope we haven’t heard the last of these guys. In the meantime, check out this show we caught back in 2009. A year later they were playing in a venue five times the size (Enmore Theatre) and we caught that show as well (which we’ll bring you soon).
